MobiFone Digital Payments Launches to Build Vietnam’s Next-Generation Payment Infrastructure
MobiFone Digital Payments Joint Stock Company has officially launched in Hanoi, marking a major step in the development of Vietnam’s next-generation digital payments infrastructure. Backed by MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation, the new platform aims to serve as a national digital payments infrastructure provider connecting banks, financial institutions, businesses, and digital service platforms.
The company received its operating license from the State Bank of Vietnam on November 27, 2025, authorizing it to provide intermediary payment services in compliance with national financial regulations. These services include financial switching, electronic clearing, payment gateway services, and collection and payment support.
Building a Fourth-Generation Payment Infrastructure
MobiFone Digital Payments aims to develop what it describes as Vietnam’s fourth-generation national payment infrastructure. The platform is designed to enable seamless connectivity across financial institutions and digital ecosystems, creating the technological foundation for the country’s future digital economy.
The company has already partnered with more than 20 institutions, including major Vietnamese banks and financial organizations. It has also announced a strategic collaboration with Visa, highlighting international support for the platform.
In addition, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam to develop interconnection models between their payment switching systems. This partnership is expected to help build a synchronized, secure, and flexible national payment infrastructure.
Government and Industry Support
The launch event in Hanoi was attended by representatives from government agencies, financial regulators, and industry partners. Nguyen Ngoc Canh stated that the launch comes at a critical time as Vietnam’s banking and financial sector undergo rapid digital transformation.
MDP leadership emphasized that the company’s strategy is based on three core pillars: technology development, continuous innovation, and secure, transparent transactions. According to Phan Thanh Son, the platform is designed to be open and collaborative, enabling domestic and international partners to connect and build services on top of the infrastructure.
Future Expansion Plans
Looking ahead, MobiFone Digital Payments plans to expand its partnerships with fintech companies, technology providers, and financial institutions to build a broader digital payments ecosystem. The company aims to create a secure and scalable payment environment that supports Vietnam’s growing digital economy and strengthens its position in the regional financial technology landscape.
The launch reflects Vietnam’s broader push toward digital finance, cashless payments, and integrated financial ecosystems, as the country continues to modernize its national payment infrastructure and expand digital financial services.
