Betfred Partners with BR-DGE to Boost Payments Performance During Peak Betting Events

Payment orchestration platform BR-DGE has signed UK-based betting operator Betfred as a new client, strengthening the operator’s payments infrastructure to better handle high transaction volumes during major sporting events.

The integration, now live in the UK, enables Betfred to manage deposits and withdrawals through a single connection, reflecting growing demand among betting operators for scalable and flexible payment systems.

Handling Peak Demand with Scalable Infrastructure

Betfred is leveraging BR-DGE as its central payment orchestration layer, allowing it to process both pay-ins and pay-outs seamlessly.

The platform was tested during the recent Cheltenham Gold Cup, where BR-DGE processed more than one million transactions over the four-day event—marking Betfred’s most successful performance at the race to date.

By consolidating multiple payment providers into a single integration, the system is designed to maintain speed and reliability even during peak betting activity.

Expanding Payment Options and Security

Through BR-DGE’s platform, Betfred gains access to a wide range of payment methods, including cards, bank-to-bank transfers, and digital wallets.

The integration also incorporates advanced fraud prevention and identity verification tools, supporting both pre- and post-authorisation checks. This helps balance security with a smooth customer experience, reducing friction for legitimate users at checkout.

Reducing Complexity and Enhancing Resilience

A key benefit of the partnership is the reduction of Betfred’s PCI-DSS compliance scope. Sensitive card data is handled through BR-DGE’s Vault solution, rather than being stored within Betfred’s own systems.

This setup also enables features such as network tokenisation and intelligent routing across multiple providers, ensuring transaction continuity through built-in failover mechanisms.

Supporting Growth in a High-Pressure Environment

Jacob Spencer, Chief Revenue Officer at BR-DGE, highlighted the importance of robust infrastructure for operators handling large-scale transaction spikes.

He noted that the partnership enables Betfred to maintain performance and flexibility during high-demand periods while supporting future growth and evolving payment needs.

Meanwhile, Nick Cockerill, Group Chief Product Officer at Betfred, emphasized the role of seamless payments in delivering a trusted customer experience.

He added that during major events—from the Grand National to regular football fixtures—customers expect fast and reliable transactions, and the new partnership ensures payments remain frictionless even at peak times.

A Broader Industry Trend

The collaboration reflects a wider shift in the betting and gaming industry toward payment orchestration platforms that can handle scale, complexity, and security simultaneously.

As transaction volumes continue to rise during major sporting events, operators are increasingly investing in infrastructure that ensures payments remain fast, secure, and uninterrupted—regardless of demand.
